Although The Daily Reckoning is usually a bunch of alarmist doom-and-gloom, today's feature definitely worth reading. It's a little article that explains in clear and simple language why using corn ethanol as a fuel source will be, for the near future at least, an exceptionally wasteful and environmentally unfriendly practice. Check it out!

Could not agree more regarding this.
Our federal government has been in the thrall of the ethanol lobby for some time, mainly because a company named Manildra (which is one of Australia's biggest ethanol producers) has donated rather a lot to party coffers.
They're toying with the idea of legislating that the ethanol content of petrol should be up to 20%.
Not only is it, as you say, an exceptionally wasteful and environmentally unfriendly practice, it is economically ludicrous.
Every time an industry gets a helping hand, it makes them that much less efficient.
Quite angry now.
Worse, once shit starts going wrong, as it inevitably will, it's the "free market" that takes the blame.
Agreed *nods head several times in quick succession*
